Mike and Laura George

This is one of the most exciting times in our lives together. After 14 years together and an amazing 8 year marriage we will finally be bringing our little girl home.

Following 5 years of trying to conceive on our own we realized that we were meant for something greater. Following another failed IUI in December 2007 we started talking about adoption. WOW! What a decision, it did not take us very long to realize that we had many options. Domestic or International? Private or through an agency? If we chose international, how do we begin to chose a country? The world is full of children that need a home.

In the last 14 years we have made many major decisions with a certain “look”. That is how we chose Ethiopia.

February 17, 2008 – We were talking on the phone with Mike’s Mom. We had her on speaker as we were discussing all of our options. Then, Mikes’ Mom made a statement that struck us right in the heart. “In Africa, the situation is much more desperate” she said. That was all she needed to say. Before we realized we looked at each other with that familiar “look” and we knew that we had made our decision.

That moment has changed our lives.
